Standard #7: Planning for Instruction

The teacher plans instruction that supports every student in meeting rigorous learning goals by drawing upon knowledge of content areas, curriculum, cross-disciplinary skills, and pedagogy, as well as knowledge of learners and the community context.

"Nina's lesson integrates reading, writing, math and science. She begins the lesson with an experiment and has the students predict why one egg floats and the other egg sinks to the bottom. She asks questions and gets responses from many different students. The lesson includes group discussion, paired study, and individual work. Nina includes use of Elmo projector and students use calculators. She repeats directions so students fully understand. She displays directions on the whiteboard"~~R. Sitron-S.T.Supervisor

"Not only is Mrs. Allouch very knowledgeable in chemistry but she also uses a wide range of best practices for teaching this topic. She uses examples that help students visualize concepts that may be difficult for students to understand. Also, Mrs. Allouch uses a wide range of teaching methods to keep the students actively engaged in their learning. In addition, she has been actively using inquiry-based learning both in the classroom as well as in the laboratory portion of the course. I highly recommend Nina Allouch as a chemistry teacher. She is dedicated to always achieving excellence in everything that she does" ~~D. Hoehn-CT

Artifacts : Sample of the lessons and units I have taught

A lesson that specifically incorporated technology into the learning process.

Description:

During the course of my student teaching, I have had the opportunity to plan and implement various instructional units that integrate objectives in more than one subject area.  My lesson and unit plans reflect accommodations and adaptations   that ensure each learner can be fruitful. By incorporating the  technology  element  in my lessons, I continue to  develop as an educator and thrive to infuse  the up-to-date  learning best practices in each lesson  I teach my  students.

"Nina is an extremely organized educator who is thoughtful and reflective. She strives to ensure all students are engaged and on target. She is detailed and creative in lesson plans and works hard to solicit her mentor community in the support of student learning."~~Molly Dwinnells & Maureen Klein- Pre- Student Teacher(GO-GIRLS ) Supervisors

Reflection:

Teaching is a complex endeavor that entails a lot of preparation and planning activities and objectives regularly.Furthermore.  Long-term planning should make sure the coverage of curriculum for marking period, month, or year. For this reason, effective teachers should display high expectations for students and choose strategies to boost the students' learning. Further than planning and preparation of resources, valuable organizing for instruction entails the development of the awareness toward efficient teaching and learning as the key point of classroom activity. Effective educators should realize that the academic instruction is the central of his/her role which in turn will come across distinctly to students and denotes the key element for fruitful learning environment. Teachers can transmit her sense of caring and support to students either by “greeting them at the door “or saying “It is my job to see that you excel” or “I want you to be ready for life outside  the school door.” . Even though effective educators consider that students should be challenged to flourish, they also recognize that they need to experience success
